It looks like the release of Wuthering Waves is not too far off: Kuro Games’ attempt at following in the footsteps of Genshin Impact is now being listed on the App Store as well as Google Play with May 23, 2024, as an estimated release date.

This seems to back up the listing of the game’s PC version on Epic Games Store, which initially showed a similar release window before the date was replaced by a “coming soon” message.

Wuthering Waves is an open-world fantasy RPG with gacha mechanics, which hopes to capture a similar audience as HoYoverse’s phenomenal hit game. In comparison to Genshin Impact, the title wants to shine with its combat system, which is supposed to be more in-depth than the one found in its inspiration.

Kuro recently opened the gates of Wuthering Waves to testers, collecting valuable feedback. As planned, the game’s combat system seemed to be a standout, though areas like progression, story, and general production value (such as translation quality) received some criticism. Among interested gamers, the prevalent opinion seems to be that the game needs a bit more time in the oven to have a shot at making a big impact. It looks like the developer is of a different mind – or needs the game out of the door to get a bit of revenue rolling in.

Wuthering Waves will be released on PC, iOS, and Android first. Kuro stated in the past that a console version was being worked on as well.

“Wuthering Waves is a story-rich open-world action RPG with a high degree of freedom. You wake from your slumber as Rover, joined by a vibrant cast of Resonators on a journey to reclaim your lost memories and surmount the Lament,” the official description reads. Features include movement mechanics like grapple and wall dash as well as advanced combat mechanics like dodging, countering, and QTE attacks.

Kuro Games’ title is expected to be the first in a wave of games inspired by Genshin Impact to be released in the coming months and years with representatives like Azur Promilia following suit.
