How will the writers strike affect Fire Country Season 2 (and what does the cast think about it)?

Stephanie Arcila (Gabriela)

After sharing that the cast is technically scheduled to begin filming Season 2 of Fire Country in early July, Arcila tells Parade that it's unlikely to happen as planned. "This is my first time going through a writers strike, so I'm learning a lot," she says. "I hope that everyone gets what's fair for them. At the end of the day, we're all artists. When an artist paints things, he gets compensated. I believe in artists getting compensated for their work."

As for the impact the strike will have on Season 2, it's definitely real. As Farr says, "The hardest thing with the strike is that it's likely going to determine the number of episodes that we can do."

Diane Farr (Sharon)

Farr, who is also a member of the Writers Guild of America, tells Parade, "It's very obvious on the inside that the studios are making money off of stories that writers write, but are not willing to give them a small piece. It's just a David and Goliath story, and I'm 100% behind David and think writers should be pair fairly, given what they are creating."

Bill Burke (Vince)

"I stand by the writers and the WGA to get a fair and equitable deal. This industry has endured so many fast-paced changes and challenges in the 30 years I’ve been working in it. Everyone should continue to be allowed reasonable working conditions and fair participation in the proceeds and benefits that come from pouring their guts into the tireless work they put forth."

Will Fire Country be back for a Season 2?

Yes, CBS renewed Fire Country for a second season. While production on the series is expected to be delayed due to the ongoing WGA strike, the cast is looking forward to picking up where Season 1 leaves off.

Burke says that when it comes to what might be next for the show he has "no clue."

"But I would expect every element of the show to continue to get deeper, richer and exponentially more compelling," he says. "We’ve got tons more story to tell."
