Wright Street Bark Park to host grand opening event with fun activities for dogs, dog owners

May 1—The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has announced in a press release a grand opening event for the Wright Street Bark Park at Muehlhausen Park on May 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m..

Activities include a dog fun walk around Muehlhausen Park at 9 a.m., K-9 demonstrations by Logansport Police Department's K-9 handlers and their K-9 partners at 9:30 a.m. and free play for dogs in the park at 10:30 a.m..

At 10 a.m., K-9 Games will be held for family dogs including "Musical Mats," "Dog Mummy," and "Minute to Win It." This will be followed by K-9 contests which will include categories such as "Most Talented (Dog Tricks)," "Owner and Dog Look Alike," and "A Face Only a Mother Could Love." Prizes will be awarded to the winners. A photo booth and a booth from "Bed & Biscuit" will also be available.

The public is invited to bring their dogs who are well-mannered, friendly, non-aggressive, on a leash and up-to-date on vaccines. Scooping dog waste is required and waste bags will be provided. Free goody bags will be available to the first 50 dog owners, one bag per family, who register for the Dog Fun Walk.

Please park in the Smead Street parking lot and enter near the 19th and Wright Street entrance. The information booth will register families for the Dog Fun Walk, sell both 50/50 tickets and personalized bones to be hung on the fence, and provide pup cups from Sycamore as people leave the event, the press release says.
