Would You Pay $32,000 for a Pair of Sunglasses?

Sunglasses are so easy to break or lose, that when I find ones I like above a certain price point, I think twice about that purchase. But if you’re living the kind of lifestyle where splurging ain’t no thang, Linda Farrow’s latest creations may be right up your alley. The eyewear label has created a three-piece capsule collection with department store Lane Crawford, consisting of supremely expensive sunnies.

The priciest pair rings in at $32,000 dollars. Why so expensive? According to WWD, the shades boast 18-karat gold frames with 24-karat gold metallic lenses and are festooned with diamonds. Too rich for your blood? Have your pick of the other, less expensive options in this collection: a white-gold pair with a platinum lens for $11,000 or a rose-gold pair for $8,700. Just a drop in the bucket!

While the shades are incredibly expensive, they’re not the priciest ever. According to the Most Luxurious List, Chopard’s De Rigo Vision sunglasses were priced at $408,000. Either way, I can think of a lot of better ways to spend my money than buying blinged out eyewear; the operative word being think, because I don’t have the kind of fortune that would allow me to pay — on a recent-college-grad’s entry-level salary — for something I’d probably misplace at a bar anyway.
