If you're feeling secure in your personal net worth, consider this your warning to stop reading.

There's a new youngest self-made billionaire in the world, and he's just 26 years old. According to Forbes magazine, Irish tech innovator John Collison stole the title from Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel after his company Stripe announced a new round of funding with a valuation of $9.2 billion. Collison, who reportedly owns at least 12 percent of Stripe, is the cofounder and president of the online payment platform, which he runs with his older brother Patrick Collison.

While the Collison tops the list of young billionaires who amassed their fortunes on their own merits, he is hardly the youngest billionaire in the world, full-stop. That moniker belongs to Alexandra Andresen, age 20, who inherited 42 percent of her family's investment company Ferd in 2007.
