Like a lot of stops on Tour this season, there’s been a handful of lay days at J-Bay.

And so, surfers have to find things to do during that down time. They’re in South Africa, for god sakes, so they might as well take advantage of their surroundings.

That’s what current world number two, Griffin Colapinto, did when he went to Bloukrans Bridge, famously known as the world’s highest place to bungee jump.

Captioning his post, Griff wrote:

“A good day to jump off a bridge 😂 the worlds largest bungee jump 🔮 fun times here in South Africa ❤️”

As it turns out, Bloukrans Bridge isn’t actually the highest bungee jump in the world – at least not anymore. According to Travel Channel, Macau Tower in China is the highest, followed by Verzasca Dam in Switzerland, then comes Bloukrans Bridge. But whatever, it’s still a damn high bridge clocking in at 709 feet.

Also, per the comments, it looks like Griff isn’t the only CT surfer to make a stop at Bloukrans Bridge during his time in South Africa.

“That’s a fun one!! Kept getting roped into doing it every year! Ha. Do the backwards jump next time! So fun!” wrote Josh Kerr.

“I did it twice!! What a rush!! Never again thanks,” commented Joel Parkinson.

“So good ask @mikeparsons1 about little day there 😂 it’s right of passage!” chirped Taylor Knox.

Meanwhile, Griffin’s not the only CT surfer jumping off big things during his downtime in South Africa. There’s also local boy Matthew McGillivray, a known base-jumping fanatic, who’s been keeping his heart rate pumping in between contest days.

But he’s next level.

Stay tuned for more action (hopefully waves) from J-Bay soon.
