Ski Racing Media posted a big announcement to Instagram "Sun Valley will host the 2025 Alpine World Cup Finals!!"

Sun Valley has the eighth best expert terrain in North America, making it a great option for setting up race courses and timing the fastest skiers alive right now. It doesn't hurt that Sun Valley is an iconic resort to America with some breathtaking scenery.

"This announcement marks a significant moment for Alpine World Cup skiing in the United States, with the last hosting of a Sun Valley Alpine World Cup dating back to March 6th, 1977."

In 1977, world famous, lifelong legend Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden won the event, contributing to his remarkable 86 World Cup wins.

Ingemar Stenmark won his first national championship at just 8 years old.

Switzerland’s Christian Hemmi took second, while his brother Heini, the 1976 Olympic GS champion, got third.

According to officials at U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the current plan is almost set in stone, but the resort is waiting for approval from the FIS Council this spring.

Specifically, U.S. Ski & Snowboard reported that “following positive discussions with FIS, U.S. Ski & Snowboard and Sun Valley Resort are moving forward with plans to host the 2025 World Cup Finals over two weekends at Sun Valley Resort, March 16-24, 2025. The 2024-25 calendar is still subject to final ratification by the FIS Council in the spring of 2024.”

We hope it all comes together. Sun Valley is an iconic resort, and the Alpine World Cup Finals are equally special.

With the history behind the location, it would make the 2025 finals an event to remember.
