This weekend in Shreveport there are several fun events happening for a variety of ages that include a movie club complete with trivia, free exercise classes in Caddo Common park, the women's soccer world cup and more.

Friday, July 21

  • Reel Adventures: Fargo Trivia Night at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery - If you love movies, if you love exploring behind the scenes and learning how movies are made, then don't miss out on discussing the 1996 film Fargo with fellow movie lovers. From 5:30 - 8 p.m. there will be trivia with prizes, food and this is a bring your own alcohol event. Fargo is available with a subscription on Showtime and Paramount+ or for a one-time $3.99 rental on Amazon Prime, Google Play, Apple TV and Vudu. Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased on Eventbrite.

  • Women's World Cup at The Seventh Tap - Come out and enjoy craft beer while you cheer on your favorite team in the Women's Soccer World Cup starting at 8 p.m.

  • Oppenheimer Premier at Sci-Port's Goodman IMAX Dome - Director Christopher Nolen's (Dark Knight, Interstellar) newest film Oppenheimer is an epic biographical thriller film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project and ushering in the Atomic Age. Two time slots are available - 3 and 6:30 p.m. Visit the Sci-Port website to purchase tickets.

  • Going to the Chapel: A Pop-Up Drag Show at The Korner Lounge - Join drag stars Carmella Dubuque, Gemini Alexander Brooks and Jame' Roberts as the show host. Make your way down the aisle beginning at 8:30 p.m. with a $5 cover.

Saturday, July 22

  • Peace, Love & Picnic: A Celebration of Love & Light at The Agora Borealis - From 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. the Agora Borealis in downtown Shreveport will be hosting a variety of activies. There will be a yoga session, crafting flower crowns, face painting, astrology readings, henna, ceramic painting and much more.

  • Artipsy Presents: 90s Vibes R&B Freaknik Bingo - This is no ordinary bingo night, there will be music by DJ Mega Marly and stand-up comedy from Hot Topic along with a prize for best 90s outfit. This is an ages 21 and up event with tickets costing $25 that includes two bingo cards and jello shot. Purchase tickets at the Artipsy website.

  • Exercise in Caddo Common Park - From 8 - 11 a.m. there will be invigorating exercise classes led by professional trainers. There will be Rebound Trampoline, Zumba, Tai Chi, endurance works and a soothing Yoga class. This is a free event taking place at the greenspace at 869 Texas Ave. in downtown Shreveport.

  • Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Coronation XXIV at 601 Spring Event Venue - This year's theme will be "Best of Broadway" as the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux introduce their royal court for the 2024 Mardi Gras season. Tickets are $75 for adults, $65 for members and $35 for ages 12 and under. Ticket price includes free parking, lunch and a cash bar. Purchase them at the Eventbrite page.
