I Wore 15 Swimsuits on a Miami Vacation, but This Bikini Was the Most Supportive

It gave my 34D chest a sports bra-level lift.

With the weather warming up, my inbox continues filling up with bathing suits — and as a native Angeleno, I’m here for it. While I now live in a climate where swimsuit season only lasts five months at most, I probably own close to 100 swimsuits. During spring break at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, a pool scene which basically doubles as a fashion show for the hottest swimwear styles of the season, I took several new styles out for a test run. Out of the 15 bikinis and one-pieces I selected for my dream vacay, two of my favorites were courtesy of under-the-radar brand, Bromelia.

Bromelia is a sustainable, Brazilian-inspired beachwear brand out of Los Angeles that uses buttery soft, UPF 50+fabric in their ultra-chic styles for the sea and sun. I was most intrigued by the brand’s Itacaré underwire top, a “highly structured, full underwire tie-back” designed to support A to DDD cup sizes. Currently a 34D, I often struggle to find a bikini top supportive enough to withstand any kind of activity with my kids, which can range from body surfing to water slides.

Out of the seven colors and fabric options, I selected the coconut ribbed with the matching Iguaçu tie bottoms. In terms of sizing, I ordered a large top, but I probably would have been better off in a medium, and a small bottom.

To say this swimsuit is flattering would be the ultimate understatement. It was obvious upon first wear that a lot of thought went into the construction of this top. The first underwire keeps your breasts propped up while a second prevents any uniboob from occurring. There is also 1-inch of “underbust” beneath the wire for added support. Additionally, it features “internal triple power mesh” structuring, offering the ultimate support for even the heaviest part of the breast. The top is finished off with adjustable thick straps, so no pulling at your back or neck, and a tie-back for the perfect fit.

All this results in sports bra level-support with enough staying power to endure some major body surfing sessions in the Atlantic — no pulling, pushing, or readjustment needed. But trust me on this, it looks nothing like a sports bra. I got so many compliments while wearing this suit, and the swimsuit competition at the resort was fierce.

And in case you’re not sold yet, the brand is also model- and Sports Illustrated-approved; Lauren Chan wore the brand’s Gabriella top, a skimpy string bikini with cheeky bottoms, for her 2023 swimsuit shoot with publication.

Shop the Bromelia Itacaré underwire top and its matching bottoms for your upcoming vacay — and thank me later.
