December 2023 hosted a grand battle between two cinematic heavyweights. In one corner, Wonka. In the other, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. So, who won?

It was Wonka who came away victorious in the final domestic weekend box office of 2023, earning a respectable $23.9 million in its third week. It's definitely worth watching, as you can see in our Wonka review roundup.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, meanwhile, placed second in that weekend with $19.5 million at the domestic box office. That means the Aquaman sequel has now reached $251.4 million worldwide. By comparison, The Flash grossed $270 million globally, and is considered one of the biggest box office bombs of all time, losing Warner Bros. approximately $200 million.
