Wondering What Santa’s House Looks Like? Zillow Gives Us a Tour
Above: Santa’s North pole residence.
Even if you aren’t expecting Christmas visitors this year (hello Polar Vortex), chances are that Santa Claus will be sneaking into your home to deliver a bumper crop of holiday goodies—and hopefully survey your chicly-decorated home in the process. While we’ve tolerated these friendly home invasions for centuries, few have gotten a good look inside Old Saint Nick’s own North Pole abode. Fortunately, Zillow has gotten an exclusive tour of Mr. and Mrs. Claus’s rustic digs—and valued the property for a cool (or shall we say cold?) $1.15 million.
The early 19th-century timber-framed cabin, described in the listing as a “winter lover’s paradise,” is nestled on 25 snowy acres. The estate not only boasts the Clauses main three-bedroom, two-bathroom log lodge, but also a sleigh garage, reindeer stables, a “state-of-the-art toy making facility,” and its own tiny home village for resident elves.
“Santa gets a peek into millions of homes each year,” insists Amanda Pendleton, who oversees home trends for Zillow. “Now, millions of Zillow surfers are getting a peek into one of the most famous homes in the world.”
And if location, location, location doesn’t entice you (Santa gets the entire North Pole to himself, plus a reindeer fleet and elven army, of course), the primary lodge’s luxury amenities will. Thanks to a 2013 renovation, the home comes equipped with perks such as a special cookie oven with a dozen different settings and hot cocoa on tap, the listing points out.
The property also features three (very) tiny houses for Santa’s resident elf commune, including an itsy bitsy farmhouse, a hygge-chic rustic cabin, and a bamboo bungalow that has its own tiny yoga studio (but you’d be forgiven if Mountain Pose is a bit cramped for full-sized humans).
In a sign of the times, the so-called Zestimate has increased by 12% year-over-year and a whopping 77% since Zillow first calculated the property’s value in 2016. The approximation, per the real estate site, was derived by looking at comparably isolated properties in the area and tacking on a “Santa premium.”
Check out the listing here, where you can peruse the property and even take a 3D tour of the elf village—preferably with a hot cocoa in hand, Zillow recommends. Kids can follow Santa’s progress via the NORAD Santa Tracker beginning Christmas Eve.
