Woman Turns to the Internet to Find New Home for Brother’s Rare Arowana Fish

A woman on the internet is calling for help finding a home for her brother's pet. As Andrea, of Vancouver, Canada, explained in a now-viral video online, her brother is heading to Australia for med school. So now they're scrambling to find a home for their super-rare Arowana fish.

It's totally understandable that they want to find the fish — appropriately named Arowana Granda — a new home. She's a beauty!

She's also huge. Andrea explained that they decided to give the pet up because they just couldn't take care of her anymore.

"She's a blood-red Arowana," Andrea explained in the video. "Her name is Arowana Grande because she's that girl."

"She's beautiful," she added, before explaining that the fish is a "Singaporean, rainbow, Dragonfish," who was being sold with the oversized fish tank her brother had left her in. (Seriously, that thing is huge.)

Andrea continued that the "bougie" fish was flown in to Vancouver from Asia and had documentation to prove her impressive creds.

Another perk? Arowana is microchipped. Her diet contains both shrimps and scallops. And she even comes with two smaller fish in her tank — in case you're looking to bring home a whole bundle of new pets.

With over 8.6 million views and 7,000 comments, it seems like everyone was interested in Arowana's fate. "My toxic trait is thinking I can keep this fish alive. Low-key want her," one person admitted. "Knew it was an Arowana before you even said — Animal Crossing taught me too well," someone else joked, referencing the video game. "She already needs a bigger tank. I hope the person who can afford her can afford a much bigger tank. She is beautiful," a third commenter added.

Fish That Make Great Pets

If you're not in the market for an ultra-pricy Arowana fish, don't worry. There are plenty of fish out there that make excellent pets!

Freshwater Angelfish are tropical fish that you're probably familiar with. Recognizable by their extended fins and round bodies, Angelfish are a majestic addition to any fish aquarium.

Fancy Guppies are another great fish option. These fish are beautiful; they come in a variety of fin and color strains. Fancy Guppies flutter about a fish tank and look colorful doing it too.

Mollies are the same genus as Guppies and make a great option for beginners. In fact, Black Mollies are common fish for first time hobbyists.

So there you have it — whether you're springing for a fancy fish like Arowana Grande or just starting your fish collection, there are so many options.
