Woman spots ‘something peculiar’ while rewatching ‘Polar Express’: ‘This movie scares me’
Another TikToker spotted a continuity error in a classic Christmas movie. Last time it was How the Grinch Stole Christmas; now, it’s the 2004 film The Polar Express.
The fantasy flick starring Tom Hanks features human actors animated by live-action and motion-capture CGI. That means real people acted out all of the scenes, and the animation effect came in post-production. This also means the filmmakers may have missed certain details.
TikToker @under.the.spell said that, while watching the almost 20-year-old film together, her roommate noticed something off with one of the characters.
“Just casually watch the Polar Express when my roommate noticed something peculiar,” the video text read.
During a parade scene from the film, one of Santa’s elves had a coat and feet but no legs. Strangely enough, the little elf could still run around during the scene.
“The things that ya notice, I’m dying,” the caption stated.
The video garnered 13.8 million views and 1.2 million likes on TikTok.
“That Elf was wearing his green screen leggings,” a user wrote.
“Most of this movie was filmed with actual people wearing green screen suits. I had an old dance teacher who tapped for the hot chocolate scene,” a person said.
“The animation in this movie scares me I can’t watch it,” someone added.
“We watch this movie every year as a tradition and I swear every year we always find another movie mistake aha,” another commented.
“I noticed that after the 30th time my kids watched it!” a TikToker replied.
