Woman shows how to use AI to remove people who don’t follow back on Instagram: ‘You’re not a fan’

On Instagram, increasing the number of followers is a vital part of the experience for many users and inspiring influencers. The more people that follow you means a wider audience of users that can support you and keep up with your life. Yet with the power of technology, one TikToker is showing users how to weed out those who are not giving them the support they want.

Richa Singh (@richas1ngh) posted a video of herself using a program created by a software engineer named Connie (@conniecodes) to find and remove people on Instagram who don’t follow her.

That video received less than 6,000 views, but the follow-up tutorial has gotten over 330,000 eyes on it — as everyone wanted to know the secret.

“Here’s the tutorial on how to unfollow people who don’t follow you back because you’re not a fan,” Singh said in her video.

The process starts by going to gist.github/abir-taheer, which takes users to a page that has the code on it. From there, users will copy the code, then right-click the desktop on Instagram to go to the “Inspect” feature, paste it and add the specific username needed and finally sit back and let the program do its job. Once the program finishes running, there will be a list of people who don’t follow back for users to see.

While there are apps that serve a similar purpose, people in the comments have written that they haven’t had the best results with them.

“Bro I’m scared to do this I used to use the apps and completely lost my account because of ‘phishing’,” replied @akashprakash108.

Some people in the comments noted that they quite literally are fans of some of the people they follow on Instagram and didn’t want to unfollow those people. That said, with this code — which is completely free — users only get a list of who isn’t following them and still have to manually unfollow those people.

Still, one of the most important things on Instagram is your follower ratio. For years, having more followers than people you follow, a.k.a. The “cool ratio” has been a sign of success on the app. Users tried to increase their ratio by deceivingly participating in follow-for-follow trends (in which people would ask to follow someone if they did the same, only to quickly unfollow them in order to better their numbers).

With users still trying to maintain a good ratio, this new tool can be a safer and more efficient way to weed out non-supporters.
