Woman Reveals How Turtles Need to Be 'Dug Up' From Hibernation Each Year

We had no idea turtles hibernated.

Now that the spring season is in full swing, animals are starting to come out of their winter hibernation. Bears are emerging with their new babies. Birds are flying back north. And turtles are getting dug up?

Yes, you read that right! TikTok user @dogdogcatcatnoodle has taught us something new with what she calls “Turtle Day.” On this day, she digs up her Box Turtles and preps them for the new season. This unique day has captured the attention of over 8.6 million TikTokers. Have you seen this done before?

What?! This is seriously so cool! We have never heard of digging up turtles from hibernation but apparently, it’s a thing. We’re clearly very late to the party! This is just another reason why we love TikTok – we learn something new every day!

“I am Jellybean every day,” said @shelbygenie. SAME! We hate getting interrupted during our sleep. They should’ve let her sleep for an extra five minutes. @whiskeynwhimsey added, “Jellybean is grumpy and won’t come out of her shell. Me too Jellybean, me too.” At least she has a shell to hide in when she’s grumpy. We still must interact with others. Ugh, the rough life we have. LOL!

Another TikToker, @quarantinaunicorn, wrote, “Being buried alive is my worst nightmare but they seem happy with it.” Right?! The creator responded by saying, “It’s like being tucked into bed!” Aww! That actually made us feel a lot better. And now that these turtles are done hibernating, we can’t wait to see more of them. Hopefully, Jellybean won’t be as camera-shy next time!
