Woman Purchases Saddest Goodwill Find to Keep Dog's Memory Alive

You never know what you'll find at Goodwill. Some days the thrifts are a flop, while other days you find something that is a true treasure. Like one woman, who found something that was really special — a dog's treat jar. So she decided to bring it home and honor their memory forever.

It's something that only a pet owner could appreciate. April was touched when she found the memento at her local Goodwill store.

April showed herself carefully transporting the treat jar home after one commenter recommended she buy it and keep the dog's spirit alive. The dog's name was Lucy and as the hand-painted jar shows, her owner really loved her. The owner even put Lucy's "real paw prints" on the jar. This was a dog that was deeply loved.

The footage follows a video that showed April finding the jar in the first place. She called the find the "saddest" thing at the thrift store.

Although it wasn't April's dog, she does have a dog of her own waiting at home. After buying it, she brought it home and put treats in it for her Black Lab puppy.

"Lucy, your love of treats is not forgotten," she wrote in the caption.

This was the sweetest darn thing. Commenters were practically a mess over the find. "I love how Lucy used to get the treats and now she gives them," one person mused. "Thank you for getting it! Lucy is loved wherever she is," someone else added. "I'm totally not crying and holding my fur babies," a third person chimed in. Although something tells us that this wasn't exactly true.

Unique Ways to Memorialize Your Pet

Saying goodbye is not easy. But there are ways that you can keep your pet's memory alive long after they're gone. Throwing a memorial can really help the process. Invite friends, family, and loved ones to say goodbye and share memories of your beloved animal.

Find a special spot to make an outdoor memorial for your pet too. A stone in the garden or tree planted in their honor can be a lasting memory of their life.

If you're planning for the inevitable, you might want to preserve their paw print. It would take a little planning, but could mean so much after they pass.

A tattoo is another way to keep your pet with you forever. Many people chose to get their animal's likeness on their body, but their name, favorite treat, or something that they treasured will remind you of them too. Or you could go the treat jar route — it might even find life again with somebody new like it did with April.
