If you have ever completed a home renovation you know how much it cost. Things start to add up quite quickly when you really get going. Perhaps the most costly home renovations take place in the kitchen. Remodel costs come with new appliances, paint, light fixture, cabinet hardware, cabinetry, and flooring. The number one thing that costs the most is new countertops, but one woman has a DIY wooden countertop that is far superior to a basic butcher block, and it is extremely cost-effective as she made it entirely out of pieces of scrap wood… check it out!

One of the first things most homeowners upgrade in their houses is their kitchens. It's easy to paint lime green living room walls a different color, remove the funky wallpaper in the entryway, or even hang a curtain to hide that old tile in the bathroom shower, but it's not so simple to easily upgrade a kitchen, that's why they are first on the list for a remodel.

The woman who shared this DIY countertop hack on August 1st, is Instagram user @studio_adash. Her page is extremely popular with just under 300 thousand followers and over 130 posts all centered around home DIYs, but based on these cool countertops it's no wonder she is so popular!

Every DIY project leaves behind scraps of the process, which this woman used to create her custom herringbone counter, made entirely from scrap wood. She cut, assembled, glued, sanded, stained, and sealed her design, creating the most perfect wood countertops, that were basically free to make.

To say we are impressed is an understatement.
