Woman Hilariously Calls Out Her Sister for Fake Hiking Photo She Posted on Instagram

Instagram is almost never what it seems. And some people have their darling siblings to remind them of that.

According to Insider, Carly Sosnowski called out her Instagram influencer sister, Casey, after she claimed to be going on a hike in one of her photos. It turns out, she was actually just posing in her family’s backyard.

Carly Sosnowski posted a “behind the scenes” photo of her sister, who has over 4,000 followers on Instagram, posing near a particularly lush part of the yard, Insider reported. It should be noted that Casey is wearing a different top in Carly’s photo than she did in her own post, though some speculators on Twitter said the Instagrammer was likely changing outfits, or she put on the white top over her sports bra last-minute.

According to Insider, the white shirt can be seen around the photographer’s neck in Carly’s photo.

Casey’s Instagram-friendly post looks incredibly like she actually went on a hike, so many people probably would have been fooled if it was not called out by her sister. According to Insider, Casey’s original caption read, “Nature is the ultimate healer to all our problems.”

Since Carly’s photo went viral, Casey has since changed the caption to, “Did I go hiking? No. Is this my backyard?...... Maybe.”

Even with the newfound honesty, it’s still a good photo. And Casey never meant to fool anyone.

“I told my little sister, let's go outside and take pictures by our wooded area because I haven't posted on Instagram since the beginning of July, so I figured it was about time I posted something,” Casey told Insider. “I thought the background was really pretty, so we took pictures over there, and after I got home and posted it I told my family, 'Look, it looks like I was going for a hike.' So then my sister Carly posted it.”

Don’t worry, there are no hard feelings between the two sisters either, Insider reported. Casey said she thought the post was funny and didn’t expect it to get this much attention.

“It just goes to show that not everyone's life is as perfect as it seems on Instagram,” said Casey.

All users, and not just “influencers,” have been known to fudge the details of their lives in order to seem more glamorous and happy on social media. Some people have faked travel photos or even entire vacations in order to fight off that FOMO feeling.
