Woman with grand theft auto felony shares tips on how to protect your car from being broken into: ‘I put AirTags in mine’

A woman on TikTok with an existing felony on her record for grand theft auto shared tips on protecting your car from being broken into.

Lala (@liltraplala) posted her video, which now has over 500,000 views, less than a week ago and received plenty of feedback on her PSA.

The first thing she said to do was to park by windows or places that are within view of windows. In the video, she acknowledged that she wasn’t parked in the best place but wasn’t worried because she had a steering wheel lock.

“I promise you no tweaker is going to take the time to [saw it off],” she said.

She also said that car thieves are more interested in older models.

“They want ones that are made at least 15,14 years back,” she said. “They want ones that aren’t hi-tech. So ones they can easily steal, get into and all that other stuff.”

After that, she advised buying a steering wheel lock like she has and putting stickers on the car that would deter someone from breaking in.

Finally, Lala reiterated a common piece of advice: Car owners should take all valuables out of the car when they leave.

“I really wouldn’t leave anything in your car because you really wouldn’t believe the s*** that catches a tweaker’s eye,” she said.

After her advice, her viewers shared more information to deter car thefts.

“My dad told me to put law enforcement bumper stickers,” said @vibezwary.

“I put AirTags in mine,” replied @officialmathewmendez.

One commenter shared how she quickly got her stolen car back.

“My car was stolen once and I got it back because the only got a block away. Keep it on E,” said @down.to.mars.girl.

Everyone has their own ways of protecting their cars from being broken into, but TikTok now has advice from someone with firsthand knowledge.
