Woman Gives Junky Laundry Room a Fab Farmhouse-Style Makeover

Clutter makes it so difficult to be effective in any space because it's not good for the mind or moving around. Still, the smaller a space is, the easier it is for clutter to accumulate. Being intentional and strategic about how you design and organize a room so you take advantage of the space is the key. Constructor and DIYer, Charlee, just showed her Instagram followers exactly how to make updates to a small small, junky space so you relieve it of clutter and can actually get things done in there.

She transformed a client's messy laundry room with a farmhouse-style makeover that involved adding storage to take advantage of vertical space and give everything in the room its own spot.

Charlee of Build & Create Home is a master of building effective storage options within a living space. Remember how we fawned over the storage unit she built for under $100? Check out how Charlee worked her magic on a tiny, cluttered laundry room for a client in a military home.

Charlee's followers and fellow DIYers showered her comments section with applause and inquiries. "Where are all the items that were there before? Where is the laundry detergent?" one person asked.

"Laundry soap and fabric softener are in the decanters," Charlee revealed. Way to clean up the visual in this laundry room without stripping it of the practical products that actually need to be there.

Take another peek at how the laundry room looked before the makeover.

This is the laundry room of a busy person or family who has a LOT going on, a LOT of stuff, terrible space usage, and inefficient storage.

Now, take a peek at what the laundry room looks like after the makeover.

The laundry room looks AMAZING.<p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CyYS1axL2l3/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Instagram / @Buildandcreatehome;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Instagram / @Buildandcreatehome</a></p>

The poplar 1x2s, wood planks, and wicker baskets give the overall laundry room a simple, clean farmhouse-meets-boho chic style. The detergents in the decanters are also a fabulous touch.

To execute this, Charlee removed the wire shelf, inserted two shelves that are slightly higher up to take better advantage of the vertical space, stocked the shelves with basket organizers, and added a removable counter for folding or sorting laundry. The cool thing about this laundry room revamp is that while there are a few steps involved, it's not anything impossibly hard for the average person to complete.

One commenter appreciated how the laundry room makeover was executed with consideration of the homeowner and their daily experiences with it. "Of course, women constructors take into account the height of the person who will be using the area the most. 👏👏❤️🙌," they wrote.

She's also inspired lots of people to take a second stab at their laundry rooms to maximize space and declutter. "Ahhh it’s perfect!!!," another commenter shared. "I think you just inspired me to actually tackle mine. It looks [very] similar to the before."

I'm sure the person who feels the MOST excited about this laundry makeover is the owner. Cheers to them being able to actually breathe when they open those laundry room doors now.
