Woman is forced to turn off comments after receiving tons of hate for her engagement ring

It’s no secret that people can be extra cruel on the internet, but one woman says she’s still in shock over the hateful comments she received on one of her recent TikToks.

According to @danielleelouisee_, it all started after she posted an innocent video about getting engaged and how looking down at her ring finger continued to catch her off-guard the few days after her proposal.

What she probably expected to get in response was comments from people who felt the same way after their own proposals. But instead, the comment section of her video was flooded with critiques about her ring size, which most people found to be way too small.

The comments were so hurtful that @danielleelouisee_ eventually turned them off, but she did address them in a follow-up video, which is now going viral on its own.

The only comment the TikToker actually quotes is one about “looking for a diamond,” which was followed by a magnifying glass emoji. (The implication was that the diamond was so small, it could barely be seen.) However, it’s clear from her response that this was just one of many similar comments she received, and they were all unnecessarily hurtful.

“So I wasn’t going to reply to any of these comments, but there’s actually been quite a few,” the TikToker shared in her follow-up video. “And it’s not OK, really.”

“This is my ring that I chose that my fiancé proposed to me with,” she continued. “It’s 2023. Let’s stop judging people for their choices of jewelry, clothes — anything.”

“I chose this ring. It’s timeless. It’s classy. It’s elegant. It’s my style, and I love it,” the TikToker concluded. “You don’t have to wear it; it’s not yours. So let’s stop making comments like this on people’s videos, and if you don’t like the ring, if you don’t like the TikTok, just move on.”

In response, thousands of people jumped in to tell her that her ring is, in fact, gorgeous and to ignore the rude comments.

“People are miserable haters,” one person wrote. “There’s no need to explain yourself babes.”

“People with no ring on their finger have so much to say,” another slammed.

“Wait till they find out a successful marriage isn’t about the size of your ring,” someone else said.

Others said that they too have a similar style, and urged @danielleelouisee_ not to apologize for it.

“I prefer the dantier look,” one person shared. “I literally sent the video to my bf like hint hint.”

“Yessss!” added someone else. “I have a simple ring myself and love the timeless elegant look.”

“It’s beautiful,” someone assured her. “Don’t let people try and steal your joy!!”
