Woman’s Ditches Her Rake for a Cardboard Box This Fall to Take Care Of Leaves

As we enter into the full swing of fall, there are many things to look forward to - cooler temperatures, pumpkin spice everything, and breaking out our cozy scarves. But one not-so-pleasant aspect of this season is the constant battle against leaves falling onto our lawns.

And let's face it, raking leaves can be a tedious and time-consuming task. But fear not, for Instagram creator Virginia Lane has come to our rescue with an ingenious hack for fall lawn clean-up and it includes ditching the rake for a cardboard box.

Now, we all know by now why leaves fall down in Autumn. Trees are getting ready for the colder months and, as they begin to shut down, they shed their leaves which then fall down onto your lawn. And while some people recommend leaving these leaves there to protect your lawn and the pollinators that need them to survive the colder winter months, most people want to at least try and keep things neat by raking them up.

But that? That takes quite a while.

Well, not anymore. Instead of reaching for your rake grab a cardboard box instead. Fold the box so that you have one large flat area then turn yourself into a sort of bulldozer and run the flat edge of the box along the ground, allowing the leaves to gather up on the box. Pass by pass you will quickly and easily clear your lawn and as you reach the end of each pass you can shake the leaves off the cardboard into a pile or trash can and from there you can do with them whatever you'd like!
