Woman crochets a beanie for a tiny passenger on her first flight

While most people dread sitting next to an infant on a flight, this small business owner definitely went in the opposite direction of most people, and we are here for it. Meegan Rubin was so sweet and kind, and noticed her tiny friend staring intently at her while she crocheted on the flight. The baby’s name is Romey and her mother posted this sweet act of kindness on her TikTok, which now has more than 6 million views.

Kelly Ryan shared in her video, “The coolest thing happened on our baby’s first flight,” she began. “The woman next to us noticed that Romey loved to watch her knit. She secretly worked on knitting Romey a beanie by the time we landed,” she said. “Her name is Meegan and has a small business called @crochetobey on Instagram. Give her a follow and pay it forward,” Ryan said at the end of the video.

If you peruse her Instagram profile, Rubin can make pretty much anything and everything when it comes to crochet. She’s made adorable purses, tops, sweaters, purses, blankets, and even sweaters for pups and a troll doll. Not to mention bags to carry small dogs around. And now she can add baby beanies on-the-fly to her impressive list of projects. While her bio on her Instagram crochet page says, “Just a beginner,” that certainly doesn’t seem like the case when you look at her incredible work.

And this beanie is no exception. It is too cute and I find it insane that this sweet woman could knit something so cozy and adorable during a flight—especially one that fits a baby’s head perfectly. The beanie even has a little pom ball on the top, and Romey looks just precious.

Rubin shared the story on her own Instagram, saying in the caption, “Mom @kellyluc and Dad @instajake63 were such sweet parents as they took turns caring for their 5 month old baby girl Romey. While other children were crying and complaining, lil Romey remained calm, cool, and collected as she gazed upon the crochet work in action. (My heart melted) she was adorable and deserving of a custom beanie!!!”

“I’m a firm believer that babies/children bring out the best in us, if we allow it,” one viewer correctly pointed out in the comments of Ryan’s video. Another person said a picture of this event needs to be printed and added in her baby book along with the flight ticket.

“This is the prettiest woman I’ve ever seen, inside and out,” another person commented. “Why is no one talking about how beautiful that woman is?” asked another.

And that’s probably why Meegan is so beautiful, because her heart and kindness shines through. Way to go, Meegan. Thank you for emulating kindness and compassion, and proving there are still people out there who choose to do something good, especially when it comes to families traveling with babies.

“The picture of 10 happy strangers looking at a baby is my favorite part,” Ryan said in the comments of her video. Probably because normally everyone is glaring at a baby on an airplane.
