Woman bails on sister’s restaurant opening: ‘I needed support more than ever’

A woman is second-guessing her choice to skip the opening of her little sister’s restaurant.

She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum to weigh in. Her younger sister is opening her very first restaurant, and she promised to go — but it brought up a lot of past issues. Her sister frequently took advantage of her while offering little in return.

Things came to a head when her sister insisted that she borrow money for a deposit related to the opening. The Reddit poster refused to loan the money, as her sister had borrowed money before and was slow to pay it back.

“She couldn’t believe I would bring up past issues at that moment, told me she was asking her big sister for help, and she would hope I would give it willingly,” the Reddit poster explained.

Then, she questioned whether her little sister had ever “willingly helped me with anything.”

Watch this Brooklyn bedroom go from drab to fabulous in one day:

“I pointed out my miscarriage at 13 weeks had been devastating to me and that was when I needed support more than ever, but she had been preoccupied with something else,” she wrote.

Her sister’s excuse was that the situation was too awkward. However, the Reddit poster didn’t buy it. Her sister talked “nonstop” about her fear of miscarriage during her first pregnancy because of the Reddit poster’s experience.

In the end, the Reddit poster decided to skip her sister’s restaurant opening. Now, her sister is furious.

“It honestly sounds like an exhausting relationship, and showing up to her restaurant opening would’ve just brought all of your recent arguments back out,” a user commented.

“Who wouldn’t use past loan repayment behavior to assess a new request for a loan?” another said.

“When a falling out like that happens, people are hardly still beholden to earlier promises like this,” someone added.
