Wolverine Boots Celebrates 140 Years Leading the Work Boot Market

To celebrate 140 years of being the leading work boot brand, Wolverine Boots is commemorating this special milestone with the launch of its 140th Anniversary 1000 Mile Boot.

Since launching its original 1000 Mile Boot back in the early 1910s, Wolverine Boots has remained a reliable and trustworthy brand for generations to withstand unpredictable job site conditions and more.

Inspired by the company’s legacy shoe, the 140th edition features the Wolverine Boots’ vintage logo on the tongue, antique brass hardware and premium Horween leather upper with a “Wolverine 1000 Mile” stamp on the collar and “Since 1883” indented into the sole and lining.

Like all 1000 Mile boots, the special anniversary boot is handcrafted within the U.S. — available in extended men’s sizes 5 to 14. Each celebratory purchase comes with a custom boot bag and an exclusive 140th Anniversary hangtag.

“We wanted to do something special for our 140th anniversary. Wolverine has been known for our 1000 Mile boot for over 100 years,” said Tom Kennedy, president of Wolverine Boots and Wolverine Worldwide’s Work Group. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the past, present, and future of our brand than to create a limited edition of this iconic, Made in the USA boot.”

The 140th Anniversary edition goes on sale October 26th and retails for $415.

To further mark the special event, Wolverine will also be inviting consumers to enter for a chance to become one of 140 people to buy its iconic boot at a deep discount of just $1.40. From Sept. 29th until Oct. 16th customers can head to Wolverine.com to enter and have a chance to win. Winners will be notified on Oct. 24th and given priority access to purchase the one-of-a-kind shoe.

Wolverine’s 1000 Mile Boot has become an iconic product in Wolverine’s line, though the core technology innovations the company has made over the last two decades are what have kept it in a market leadership position. Wolverine’s upcoming ReForce work boot, arriving for the spring 2024 season, is the lightest Goodyear welt the brand has ever made, and combines its top-of-the-line EnergyBound and DuraShocks technologies.

“As society and our consumer evolved, so did we,” Kennedy told Fairchild Studio. “We continually looked at what’s next. How is our consumer changing? How is the workplace and job site changing? What new materials and technologies can we create to solve their unique footwear needs? By staying on top of these dynamics, we’ve been able to maintain our market leadership – something we intend to do for years to come.”

Beyond creating footwear, Wolverine continues to honor the perseverance and spirit of the American worker through the company’s Project Bootstrap platform. Through the program, Wolverine has been a strong advocate for empowering American skilled trades by “providing market-leading boots and workwear that give consumers the confidence to take on any job.”

Notably, to help fortify and build the next generation of skilled tradespeople, Wolverine Boots has donated almost $2 million dollars to various organizations such as the rock band Metallica’s nonprofit All Within My Hands and SkillsUSA.

Looking ahead, Wolverine Boots continues to use its heritage to its advantage and move the needle forward within the work boot category. The brand’s “we’re not good because we’re old. We’re old because we’ve stayed good” is more than a headline. It’s the essence of what keeps the Wolverine team motivated to develop the best product, day after day, for the next 140 years and beyond.
