We're off to see the wizard—again!

A remake of the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz is coming soon from New Line Cinema, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It's hard to imagine improving on the original film, which catapulted Judy Garland to stardom and made "Over the Rainbow" one of the most famous movie songs of all time. But the remake is expected to offer a "fresh take" on L. Frank Baum’s beloved children’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, so we'll try to keep an open mind!

Nicole Kassell (The Woodsman, Watchmen, Westworld) is set to direct the new film, which reportedly won't be a musical, according to the Associated Press.

"I am incredibly honored to join Temple Hill and New Line in bringing this beloved classic to the screen," Nicole said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "While the 1939 musical is part of my DNA, I am exhilarated and humbled by the responsibility of re-imagining such a legendary tale."

"The opportunity to examine the original themes —the quest for courage, love, wisdom and home— feels more timely and urgent than ever," she added. "These are profoundly iconic shoes to fill, and I am eager to dance alongside these heroes of my childhood as we pave a newly minted yellow brick road!"

Well, when she puts it that way, we can see how this could be the perfect moment to revisit this timeless story.
