Wiz Khalifa isn’t opposed to wearing socks with sandals. Though he is one of the most stylish rappers in the music business—a fan of labels like Gucci and Dior Homme—Khalifa is also a firm believer that you should wear “whatever makes you happy and feel good.” Simply put, he’ll wear the controversial socks-with-sandals combo if he feels like it, and those socks will probably be brightly colored or decorated in some wild print—just like they were when he was a small boy. “My mom put me in goofy socks when I was a kid and I love that,” Khalifa says. “Sometimes that one crazy sock print takes the whole outfit to the next level.”

Khalifa’s longstanding love affair with the statement sock explains his new collaboration with the colorful Swedish brand Happy Socks. Out tomorrow, the Wiz Khalifa x Happy Socks collection features six pairs of socks with printed designs inspired by his songs like “House in the Hills,” “No Limit,” “Pretty Nights,” and “Black and Yellow.” The prints include a paisley design as well as a camo and floral motif. Khalifa also designed four pairs of mini-me kids’ socks as a tribute to his son, Sebastian, as well as two pairs of men’s boxers and two pairs of women’s underwear.

“Making sure that the styles popped was the biggest goal,” Khalifa says. “I just combined some of my favorite colors with some cool patterns. But I was really inspired by my son and that was why it was important for me to include some kids’ styles as well.” While the partnership with Happy Socks is his first in the sock category, the rapper has designed clothing before. Last year, he teamed up with Made L.A., FourTwoFour, and Pleasures on a capsule collection of streetwear and a runway show to present the wares. “You can’t be scared to take risks in fashion,” Khalifa adds, “you just gotta wear what feels right.” Sometimes, that means slipping on a pair of wild and crazy socks.
