'The Witcher 3's Next-Gen Update Is Releasing This Year After All

It now appears that The Witcher 3's next-gen update will be arriving in 2022 after all. The enhanced versions of The Wild Hunt for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S were originally slated for release by June this year, but CD Projekt Red announced just a month earlier that the update was delayed indefinitely after moving development in-house from Saber Interactive.

Luckily for fans, the Polish video game developer has now come back with some relatively good news, announcing that the next-gen release will come during Q4 of 2022.

Those who already own the 2015 title on PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will receive a free upgrade to its next-gen edition, while new players to the franchise can purchase it independently of the older version. Dubbed the "Complete Edition," the upgrade will also include every expansion released for The Witcher 3 including all extra content, as well as a series of performance updates such as ray-tracing, generally improved graphics and faster loading times.

No precise date has been given yet aside from the Q4 2022 window, so those interested should stay tuned for more updates to come.

Elsewhere in gaming, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is rumored to bring back classic Modern Warfare 2 maps.
