Wisconsin Gubernatorial Candidate Kelda Roys Is Casually Breastfeeding Her Kid in This Campaign Ad

She's a seriously talented mulitasker.

In more badass-breastfeeding-politicians-from-Wisconsin news, Kelda Roys, a former member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, just made an advertisement for her gubernatorial campaign. What makes hers stand out from the rest? During the ad, she casually breastfeeds her youngest child—and she does it all while explaining how she helped her state to ban BPA, the toxic chemical commonly found in baby bottles.

The politician filmed her campaign ad to also feature her husband and two small children. As Roys talks about her work, her husband comes into the frame and hands her their baby. She seamlessly takes her daughter and starts breastfeeding her, never skipping a beat in her story as she explains how proud she is of her work.

She ends the commercial on a note about why she's running for office: "Government should be about helping every person achieve his or her potential—and Wisconsin used to do it so well. Democracy only works when we all get involved."

Roys is one of two women running to become the first female governor of Wisconsin and to replace Republican Scott Walker who ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign and has been governor since 2011. Her campaign issues include access to abortion care, a $15 state minimum wage, equal pay for women, and a call to address gun violence as a public health emergency.

Of course breastfeeding, for many moms, is a pretty everyday (well, a multiple times a day) activity—but to do it on TV, during your own political ad, helps to break outdated taboos about its visibility and normalize it as the commonplace activity it really is.
