Winter Park Makes Decision On Opening Mary Jane

Winter Park in Colorado released a mouth-watering teaser video of someone riding a mellow trail under a cloudless sky.

Even with no moguls or glades in sight, the video indicated the impending status of Mary Jane's opening. "After over two feet of snow last week and hard work from our crews, Mary Jane will be open starting 9am THIS Friday, Dec 8!"

Mary Jane is part of Winter Park (so yes, your IKON pass will work!) but represents the wilder side of resort skiing, as MJ offers moguls, glades, and no groomed terrain.

There's a pretty interesting history behind the naming, too. Not at all what you'd expect, but maybe even more risque.

The tree skiing at Mary Jane is coveted by skiers across America, so this news will have even the most jaded skiers tuning their skis tonight.

"We’re beyond excited to welcome you all back and will have the Super Gauge, Iron Horse, Pony Express, Galloping Goose, and High Lonesome Express Lifts running with access to at least six trails."

Officials at Winter Park knew not everyone was going to read the whole thing, so they released a TLDR. "See you at Mary Jane this Friday. Bring your gear, bring your pocket bacon, and we’ll see you on the mountain!"

Will any hardcore backcountry skiers make an appearance, hiding near a treewell, paper-wrapped snack in mittened hand?

Guess we'll all have to ski Mary Jane to find out--and hopefully someone cooked their bacon in the oven and shoved the rest in their bibs that morning.

Grrreeaassyyy!
