These Wine Socks Turn Off Netflix When You Fall Asleep

The problem: You get hammered on red wine and fall asleep with Netflix on – meaning you wake up with no idea where you were in your show. Netflix suggested solution: Build your own socks with a built in sensor that can tell when you fall asleep and automatically pause your show for you. Sure. Why not?

Fittingly, Netflix chose to use socks with "PINOT NOIR" embroidered on them for their version of this DIY project. However, you can use whatever sock you like because this product truly is do-it-yourself. Netflix is an entertainment company, not a sock manufacturer.

Instead, they have all the instructions for making these crazy socks on their website and claim that if you make them right, they really will pause your Netflix for you. "We've based our sleep detection system on a popular method called actigraphy. An accelerometer detects when you've stopped moving for a prolonged period of time and triggers a signal to your TV that pauses Netflix," the company writes. "The accelerometer is very sensitive to little movements, so it's good at detecting when you're just sitting still, raptly watching Netflix, and when you've actually fallen asleep."

It's definitely kind of cool, but it's also definitely complicated. Personally, I'll just stick with the rewind button. Someone already built that for me.
