  • Windy City Rehab stars Alison Victoria and Donovan Eckhardt are embroiled in a lawsuit.

  • New reports suggest the two HGTV personalities have since had a falling out.

Windy City Rehab was an instant hit with HGTV viewers after its first season debuted in 2019. Host Alison Victoria quickly captured audience’s attention, and her chemistry with lead contractor Donovan Eckhardt seemed just enough to keep people interested.

Now, it seems their friendship has fractured after several complaints from Chicago residents and a lawsuit that led to some reported scathing texts have surfaced. There’s a lot going on, so here’s a quick summary of the latest drama.

First off, what’s happening with this lawsuit?

According to People and the Chicago Sun-Times, James and Anna Morrissey bought a $1.36 million dollar home renovated by Alison and Donovan. Now, the couple is suing the stars: Alison’s Alison Victoria Interiors Inc.; Donovan’s Greymark Development Group; two other related businesses; and contractor Ermin Pajazetovic after a slew of problems plagued the property.

Such issues allegedly include a leaky roof, poorly installed windows, and more that led the couple to cite defective and shoddy work, breach of contract, breach of warranty, and consumer fraud in their suit.

Donovan did not respond to requests for comment from the Sun-Times. Alison did not comment on the allegations, but told the outlet, “I worked directly with the Morrissey’s to resolve any issues of concern related to their home renovation.” HGTV did not comment on the suit, but confirmed to People that season 2 is still moving forward.

Got it. So is Alison Victoria still working with Donovan Eckhardt?

It’s unclear. After facing some possible license suspensions and stop orders earlier this year, Alison addressed the issue in a post that mentioned she's working with a different team.

“I want you to hear it from me directly that I am working closely with the City of Chicago to repair and amend any and all permits with our new general contractors,” she wrote.

In January 2020, the Sun-Times acquired texts from the lawsuit that suggest the relationship has gotten even more tense. After the Morrisseys replaced the roof using their own contractors, Alison Victoria Interiors’s reimbursement check cleared, while the one from Greymark allegedly bounced.

Alison reportedly then sent a message saying, “If I have to cover his portion I will. I do not want him to f*** with my life or business anymore than he already has.”

Oof. So is Windy City Rehab still filming?

HGTV has so far not changed their tune about season 2 of Windy City Rehab. The network told People episodes will air as planned in April 2020.

Alison also posted an Instagram in January with the hashtag, "season2iscoming."
