Jacquie Roar, Lila Forde, Ruby Leigh, Mara Justine, Huntley

There were 20 four-chair turns on Season 24 of The Voice, so whittling down the talent hasn’t been easy for coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire and Niall Horan, but of those 20 four-chair turns, all of the Top 5 finalists—Huntley, Jacquie Roar, Lila Forde, Mara Justine and Ruby Leigh— were among them.

Who will win The Voice in 2023?

And yet, one stood out: Huntley. The 33-year-old rock singer from Fredericksburg, Va., began his journey on The Voice impressing the judges with his cover of “She Talks to Angels” for his Blind Audition. He chose to join Team Niall, where he has successfully stayed ever since to rave reviews from all the coaches, not just his.

He then won his Battle Round with “Hold My Hand” against teammate Brailey Lenderman. He moved on to the three-way Knockouts, performing “Wanted Dead or Alive” and beating out Claudia B. and Noah Spencer to make the next step in the competition. He continued his successful run in the Playoffs singing “Daylight.”

That was the final performance in which the coaches were the deciding voice, but switching to America’s vote made no difference in his trajectory. Huntley sang “With a Little Help from My Friends” in the Top 12 with America putting him through to the Top 9, where he performed “Down We Go” again successfully getting America’s vote to reach the Top 5 and the finale. And it seems as if there’s no stopping him now. So, unless he blows it next week during the finale, he is my prediction to clinch the title.

The only other possible outcome would be Team Reba’s Ruby Leigh, who has been neck and neck with Huntley all season and has the advantage of her youth—she’s 16—and The Voice is notorious for supporting young talent. Brynn Cartelli and Carter Rubin were 15 years old when they won, and Chevel Shepherd and Sawyer Fredericks were 16. Plus, the country vote is very strong and Reba taking over Blake Shelton’s chair doesn’t seem to have diminished it in the least as Team Reba went into Top 12 intact.

Like Huntley, Ruby, a native of Missouri, impressed all four coaches with her Blind Audition performance—especially her ability to yodel—of “I Wanna Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart.” There was never any question that she was going to join Team Reba.

For the Battles, she took the stage against Al Boogie with “Jolene” and came out the victor. In the Knockouts, she sang “Blue,” eliminating both Rachele Nguyen and Ms. Monét. And then in the Playoffs, she sang “Long, Long Time” and was put through to the Live Shows by her coach.

Then it was America’s turn to vote and they supported Ruby’s choice of “You Lie” for her Top 12 performance, voting her into the Top 9, where she yodeled her way into the Top 5 with John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Road." If Ruby pulls out all the stops in the finale, she could sneak past Huntley and take the title.

As for the remaining three finalists, it’s hard to say whether Lila or Mara will finish third and fourth. They seem to be evenly matched, but the fact that Jacquie had to sing in the Instant Save for the fifth and final spot indicates that she will finish in the fifth position.
