  • The Masked Singer results haven't always been popular with viewers.

  • There are some theories as to why music legends get voted off early.

Fans have a burning question for the creators of The Masked Singer, and it has nothing to do with who's hiding behind the costumes.

The crooning Tacos and dancing Llamas may seem like the most outrageous part of the show. But what's been really upsetting fans lately is how music legends like Chaka Khan and Dionne Warwick get kicked off way before their time.

Does the audience not hear how incredible they are? How could the White Tiger possibly be better than them? All of this to say: What's up with the voting!?

Stick with us as we explore a few theories that make a lot of sense.

Dionne expressed one during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“When there’s a distinctive voice that is recognized, you can only go so far because I guess that’s the gist of the show itself,” she said. By this, she means that once the mystery of the performer is gone, it's basically the end for them.

Unlike other competitions that involve at-home viewers, The Masked Singer asks its live in-studio audience to vote for their favorite competitor instead of the person they think should be eliminated. Because of this, it’s possible that easily-identified voices (and singers, in particular, since we've heard them before) fail to get votes because the audience already knows who they are.

One Twitter user chimed in with a similar theory as to why this keeps happening. “Have long thought [the] voting audience tries to unmask they whom they think are known, simply to be proven correct," they wrote.

Genius. Still, it feels disappointing to think two superstars were eliminated from a singing competition so quickly. Because let's be honest, we would’ve loved a few more weeks of listening to Chaka and Dionne!
