These Wigs Installs Are Some of the Best We Have Seen
There's just something about a beautifully-blended wig that makes me swoon. When I see one, I immediately must know everything about it. Where is the wig from? Which magical adhesive was used? Why did this person have to be so disrespectful and snatch my soul like this?
It takes some skill and a good amount of practice to get a wig to look like it's growing from the scalp. The type of unit you choose determines how much additional work is required. The baby hairs have to be trimmed and styled correctly. If the hairline isn't plucked properly, just forget about it looking natural. If it's a lace-front wig, the knots must be bleached to perfection, or there's the risk of the lace being too light or too dark.
When someone gets it all right, I can't help but give them props — and these wigologists right here are worthy of the highest praise. You won't believe that these bundles aren't the person's real hair. Let them inspire you to practice your installation skills or to just admire the wiggatry from afar.
Spiraling Out
YouTuber Jessica Pettway is a wig connoisseur. The proof is in her YouTube channel, where you'll find all the tricks and tips to make even the most inexpensive wigs look natural. This gorgeous unit shown below is the Kinky Koily U Part Wig from Knappy Hair, perfect for those with type 4 textures. Pettway wand curled her curls to match the texture of the wig.
Loosey Goosey
There's got to be something in the water over in the U.K. because the wigs on the other side of the pond are just phenomenal. London-based hairstylist Hannah Moshood is a wig-laying wizard. With the Bold Hold Active glue, she applied this loose, deep-wave brown unit for a flawless look.
Fulani Goddess
Braided wigs are another level of sorcery. Britteny Meadows, known as @ifancycupcakes to her followers, showed off how good the Sensationnel Hair Side Part Cornrow Wig can look. She plucked the hairline with tweezers and tinted the lace with Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs in Light Glow to make it look more realistic. Using the Got2b Glued Blasting Freeze Spray, a staple in many a wig-wearer's kit, she glued the unit down for Fulani braids that took less than six hours to complete.
Feels Like Fall
This video is the definition of the phrase, "what lace?" This orange unit was installed by London-based hairstylist Fola, who styles and makes wigs that she sells on her website HairWeatherUK. We are feeling the autumnal vibes from the custom-colored glueless piece with a 6x6-inch closure. Not a strand is out of place in her installs.
Curl-fection
It took only 30 minutes for Tameka L. Lee to install the Her Given Hair Curly Trends Unit, using the Got2b Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Hair Gel as an adhesive, Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs in Deep Glow as a lace tint, and the shade Yodit from the Juvia's Place Warrior II Palette to lighten the part.
Stiff Where?
This unit was a custom-made lace-front from hair shop Kendra's Boutique. Hairstylist Malia Curry-Haler installed the wig on her client using the Bold Hold Active glue and a flatiron to form the voluminous curls. To create the swoops of baby hairs, she used the Got2b Glued Freeze Blast Spray.
Last 'Fro Standing
Fingercomber has some of the most natural-looking curly wigs I've ever seen. Its Elongated Fro-Kurl Unit is a coily half-wig full of volume. About an inch of the model's hair was left out to blend with the piece, and her edges were styled with Eco Styler gel for a seamless transition.
Make a Wave
The Brooklyn-based hairstylist Dani used Got2b Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Hair Gel, a clear favorite of many stylists, to glue down this gorgeous unit. She used the Baby Tress Edge Styler and water to freshen up the curls for a loose, wavy moment that looks so damn good.
Where's Roger Rabbit?
This burgundy number is full of volume thanks to hairstylist Hannah Moshood. For the curls, Moshood used a curling iron with a big barrel and hair spray to keep the spirals intact. A little bit of Gummy Hair Styling Wax helped form the swirls of each baby hair. This look is giving us total Jessica Rabbit vibes.
That Purp
Brooklyn-based stylist Dani absolutely killed laying this beauty. She shows the application process from the very start, from braiding down her client's hair to the very end, when she styles the baby hairs. She custom-colored this wig to create a reverse purple ombré effect.
Girl, Look at That Body
For a virtual class she hosted, Atlanta-based hairstylist Kenya created a tutorial on how to apply a glueless lace wig. The result was this captivating unit full of movement and body. As Kenya combs through the model's hair, it falls in perfectly to frame her face.
