Widespread Snow Returns To Western Ski Resorts

Meteorologist Chris Tomer reports a loaded forecast for the next week across various parts of the US.

Tomer predicts that a "rich PNW flow breaks loose and hits Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Colorado starting December 7th through December 8th. There is a second, smaller wave that comes off the Pacific on December 10th."

There is also the potential for a large Eastern storm system on December 10th and 11th with rain initially in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

The serious accumulation comes the first time around, so for most places, on the 7th.

By tomorrow morning, Idaho, the Wasatch, and the Tetons will be seeing snow. Some of this "might clip Tahoe North," and Chris admits "this may be the only hope for Tahoe in the next 7-9 days."

By December 11th, there isn't much going on. Good, 'cause that's a Monday anyway.

The mid-mountain forecast predicts a foot of snow for the Wasatch Range, 8-12 inches for the Tetons, and around 4-10 inches in Colorado between today and December 9th. 5-12 inches are possible around Tahoe, as well.

The second wave manages to throw down a couple more inches, and on the East Coast the storm starts out as rain, turning to snow by December 11th. New York gets a little more than Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire, but there's "a lot of warm air" in the beginning.

Put those spoons under your pillow. Throw your skis in a bonfire. Do your best snow dance. We all want a snow day.
