Zendaya Coleman made Emmys history in September when she became the the youngest woman to ever, at age 24, win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award for her work in Euphoria. Award season starts again tonight with the 2021 Golden Globes, a ceremony that recognizes both television and film work. But Zendaya won't be part of that ceremony, as she wasn't nominated for any award.

While Euphoria's first season, which came out in 2019, isn't eligible for any Globes this year, Zendaya's work in Netflix film Malcom & Marie was. Her exclusion was seen as a major snub.

Zendaya wasn't announced as a presenter ahead of the broadcast either, leaving no reason for her to be at the Globes during a pandemic. There's still a chance Zendaya could be part of later award season shows. Expect to see Zendaya at next weekend's Critics' Choice Awards: she has a nomination for Best Actress (for Malcom & Marie) and will be honored with the SeeHer award, too.

While she wasn't nominated for any Screen Actors Guild Awards, Zendaya could also still get an Oscar nomination, as nominees for the Academy Awards haven't been announced yet.

Where is Zendaya right now? The actress has been in Atlanta, shooting the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

She has also spent the pandemic like many twentysomethings: exploring who she is without work.

Zendaya spoke candidly to GQ for its February 2021 cover story about how quarantine—and being forced to stop working because of the coronavirus pandemic—made her grapple with the question of who she is. “It was my first time just being like, ‘Okay, who am I without this?’” she said after years in the business, including working as a Disney Channel star. “Which is a very scary thing to confront and work through, because I don't really know Zendaya outside of the Zendaya who works. I didn't realize how much my job and my art were a part of my identity as a human.”

“I feel most like myself when I'm working,” she added later. “I felt like, when I wasn't working, my powers had gone away, and I was like, ‘Who the fuck—’ I didn't really know who I was and what makes me happy. What do I like to do? What else do I do? What is my value? What is my purpose now?”
