Why Zendaya Isn't at the 2020 Oscars
The inevitable big fashion moment Zendaya would've brought to the Oscars tonight didn't happen because the Euphoria actress opted not to attend the ceremony. She was not nominated and she wasn't tapped as a presenter. Why wasn't the Euphoria actress recognized, especially when she was got a Best Actress in a Drama Series nod at the Critics' Choice Awards? Simple: The Academy only recognizes film achievement, not TV. (Zendaya, by the way, was last at the Oscars in 2018.)
Zendaya could be at the Oscars after parties though, especially if HBO throws its annual bash. She and her Euphoria co-stars are regular attendees of any party the network throws.
Zendaya was last seen in New York City this week, out with her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi. The two were photographed by paparazzi kissing on two occasions, providing photo proof that they are dating.
The two have tried in the past to kill romance rumors, with Elordi describing Zendaya as a "sister" in a GQ Australia interview published in December. Zendaya called Elordi her "best friend" when presenting an award to him at American Australian Association Arts Awards last week.
A source told E! this week that in reality, Zendaya has been dating her best friend for over half a year. "Jacob and Zendaya have been seeing each other for months now," the source said. "They started as close friends but it became romantic after their show ended."
"They have been inseparable since last summer and have been making time for each other in between projects," the source continued. "Jacob has met Zendaya's family, and everyone adores him. They have a lot of fun together and have a lot in common."
