Why Whoopi Goldberg Stopped ‘The View’ to Scold an Audience Member

Whoopi Goldberg made an example out of one member of The View's live audience.
During the Tuesday, March 26, broadcast, the hosts were busy discussing former president Donald Trump's ongoing legal battles when someone in the audience caught the attention of Goldberg, distracting her to the point that she had to get up and say something to them.
"Sir, sir," the 68-year-old said per Deadline while getting up from her seat at the table.
“Hold on a second. Sir, I have to stop you with the camera because I can see you," she continued, "Do me a favor: Don’t pull it out again. I’d appreciate that. Thank you.”
Goldberg's co-hosts—Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin—weren't as eagle-eyed as the Sister Act star and missed the moments that led up to the scolding.
"What was he doing?" Behar whispered to her co-hosts.
"Recording," answered Haines.
The incident wasn't shown on camera, but the live mics recorded its aftermath as the rest of the audience began clapping, presumably for Goldberg's quick thinking.
It was a rare moment of camaraderie on set, as the public doesn't always agree with actions—or opinions—shared by The View cast.
Most recently, the hottest topics of discussion to be broadcast have to do with the viral "stay-at-home girlfriend" trend and "#KateGate" conspiracies. With the former debating the true logistics of what internet users see online and the latter leading to an apology from certain cast members—Goldberg aside, as she never "bought into" the conspiracies surrounding the Princess of Wales—following news of Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis.
