Coriolanus Snow isn't the only character in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that also appears in Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy. A character who makes a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the third book happens to be kind of a big deal in the prequel. Here's what you need to know about Tigris in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

The only characters we really see in both franchises are these two members of the Snow family. If you're wondering about Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman, Jason Schwartzman's character in The Ballad, he's not a younger version of Stanley Tucci's character in The Hunger Games. He's like... his father or grandfather or something. Turns out, Caesar Flickerman was a nepo baby. That kind of checks out, don't you think? Anyway, back to Tigris.

Who is Tigris Snow?

In The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes we meet a young woman named Tigris Snow, Coriolanus' cousin. Since she's a little bit older than him, she was Coriolanus' surrogate caretaker after they lost their respective parents in the war. They live with their grandmother. At the beginning of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes she has an apprenticeship with a fashion designer. It is implied that, prior to that job, she engaged in sex work to keep the family out of extreme poverty and starvation.

If her name and passion for fashion sounds familiar, that is because Katniss meets the older Tigris in Mockingjay. Decades later, Tigris is seemingly estranged from Coriolanus Snow and works as a rebel informant and spy. Katniss isn't even told about Tigris's connection to Snow. She is only told that Tigris used to be a stylist for the Hunger Games, like Cinna, and that Snow fired her himself. Over the years, possibly to deal with the pain caused by her cousin's sadistic rise to power, Tigris tattooed and surgically altered her appearance so much that she looked more feline than human.

Knowing that this fate awaits Coriolanus' sweet and resourceful cousin is yet another tragedy bubbling under the surface of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

Who Plays Tigris?

The character was portrayed in Mockingjay Part 2 by actress, singer, and model Eugenie Bondurant. In The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, she's played by model, activist, and Euphoria's own Hunter Schafer. She's on the cusp of a major moment. After this franchise turn, Schafer can next be seen in films by modern auteur directors like Yorgos Lanthimos and David Lowery. Exciting!!
