Taylor Swift made headlines when she was snubbed for a number of MTV VMA award nominations. Sure, Swift got nominations for the best editing, best art direction, and best visual effects awards for "Look What You Made Me Do." But she didn’t win any of them or get nominated for any major categories, including Video of the Year, despite her decision to debut that very video-her first Reputation video-at last year’s VMAs. Fans were outraged-and perhaps Swift too, as the singer did not make a red carpet appearance and has not been seen in the audience of the New York City Radio City Hall award show tonight.

Swift was in Manhattan this past weekend; she was photographed leaving her apartment with a cheetah backpack over her face. And she is available: Swift's next Reputation concert is August 25 in Nashville, five days from now, meaning she's likely still in town. The possible statement: I'm not going to come to your show if you snub my work.

Swift didn't make an in-person appearance to last year's VMAs either and rarely attends award shows. She made an exception at the Billboard Music Awards in May, where she won the best Female Artist award, but it's been her only show this year. Swift missed the opportunity tonight to spend time with VMA attendee Karlie Kloss and put fan fears to rest that their friendship ended.
