Why Taylor Swift Likely Won't Perform at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is going abroad next year! After sharing Latin America dates for the end of 2023, the pop star just announced she'll be touring in Asia and Europe in 2024. One set of dates in particular means that Swift likely won't be the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime show performer, despite persistent speculation that she could be.
In 2022, when the NFL announced that Apple Music is the new sponsor of the show, dropping longtime sponsor Pepsi, fans began to speculate it was to line up a Swift performance for 2023. Of course, that didn't end up happening, with Rihanna instead putting on a memorable performance (and revealing her second pregnancy!).
Could it be that Swift will take the stage in 2023? She is at the top of the odds, with Steve Starr in My Top Sportsbooks noting, "Taylor Swift (+650) is the favorite to headline the Super Bowl 58 halftime show in Las Vegas. The 33-year-old songstress reportedly turned down the gig this year so she could focus on re-recording her first six studio albums. Assuming she can finish up her pet project, T-Swizzle should get another invite to the big game."
However, the new Eras Tour dates indicate she will not be taking the stage at the Super Bowl next year. Swift will be in Tokyo, Japan, performing at Tokyo Dome for four nights, from February 7 through February 10, 2024. The Super Bowl LVIII will take place on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Nevada—making it highly unlikely the singer will hop on a 14 hour flight from Tokyo to Nevada.
So who will perform at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime show? Other pop stars reportedly in the running are Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Harry Styles—or, it could be a total surprise.
