Why You Should Stock Up On Ziploc Bags Before A Hurricane
In any natural disaster, supplying fresh drinking water becomes one of the first priorities for relief organizations and volunteers. And if you've been impacted by a hurricane, you might find yourself waiting in long lines to buy bottled water (that is, if stores still have it in stock).
But what you can do instead is be prepared before the storm hits. Jacksonville Moms Blog just suggested one of the easiest and cheapest hurricane hacks we've ever heard: Fill up Ziploc freezer bags with water and lie them flat in your freezer.
That's right: While you're stocking up on food and other supplies before a hurricane, don't forget to grab those plastic baggies, which are way cheaper, take up less space, and are so much more stackable than bottles. Make sure to only fill the bags about three-quarters full - just so they don't explode in your freezer. If you have empty water bottles in your house, go ahead and fill those up too.
If your running water stops, you'll have extra agua at the ready. Remember: You should stock at least one gallon of water per person (and animal) per day for at least three days. You can never be too prepared!
