With performances from Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, the 2021 Grammys are off to a fire start. But if you're hoping to catch a glimpse of Selena Gomez on stage, I have unfortunate news. For various reasons, the actress and singer won't be in attendance this year.

While in recent months Selena has spent most of her time in New York City due to shooting Only Murders in the Building, that's not the only reason she's not at the Los Angeles show. Only performers and nominees are in attendance (if they adhere to COVID-19 safety precautions), and since Selena wasn't nominated for any awards this year, there was no reason for her to be in attendance.

After the Recording Academy's snub of her 2020 album Rare, Selena has spoken out about her future as a musician. In her Vogue cover story last week, she spoke about the possibility of giving up singing. “I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough," she said.

I, for one, will always stan Selena's music (I mean, have you heard Buscando Amor yet?) and am sighing thinking of the look she would have served tonight.
