Selena Gomez returned to Instagram on Monday after spending three months taking a break from the platform to focus on her mental health. But Gomez isn't about to post frequently. According to E!, the singer has made a conscious decision to keep her Instagram posts limited.

“She isn’t going to be posting much on social because she is more aware of how social takes a toll on her mental health, but she will be updating her fans once in a while,” the source said.

In her first post back, Gomez reflected a little on her time away. "It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support," she wrote. "Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming. Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all."

She has since posted one other 'gram for her Puma Cali sneaker, but that post was more work-related than personal.

Gomez last announced she was taking a break from social media at the end of September. "Taking a social media break. Again," she wrote in the updated caption of a selfie. "As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi." During that time away, Gomez sought treatment for her mental health at an East Coast facility. She returned to the spotlight in December, appearing in her friends' Instagram photos of their snow-tubing trip.

Gomez has talked before about how toxic social media can be for her and why she doesn't typically have Instagram on her phone. She accessed her account from a friend's. “I don’t have my password for Instagram," she told ELLE in her October issue interview. "I have no apps on my phone, no photo editing apps. I have Peak, a brain game.”

“The reason why is, it’s not real to me,” she continued. “I know my voice is very prominent, but I’m not careless with it. I’m selective. As far as my personal life, someone sees me having a glass of wine? I could give two shits. I’m not trying to hide. That’s my life. I’m living it the way I want to live it. But it’s about making a conscious effort-if I can have a moment to be with my friends, I’ll take that time. So I don’t have any of it. I had to make that decision."
