Why Rachel Brosnahan and Jason Ralph Kept Their Marriage a Secret

Rachel Brosnahan, 33, and her husband Jason Ralph, 37, fell in love while working on an unassuming Indie movie just over 10 years ago. The couple met in 2013 on the set of I'm Obsessed With You: But You've Got To Leave Me Alone when Rachel was 23 and Ralph was 27. Jason is an actor and producer who you might recognize from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, as he joined the cast alongside Brosnahan for season 4 and the series finale of season 5.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel stars keep their personal lives very private and even kept their marriage a secret until they were spotted sporting matching wedding bands on the Emmys red carpet in 2018.

"I've been quite private about my personal life for a few reasons. The first being it's just that: personal. Jason and I also noticed early on that, while we are both the leads of successful television series, he has almost never been asked about our relationship while I have been asked on almost every red carpet I have walked in the last two years. We both find this double standard problematic and frustrating and opted to redirect those conversations to our work," Rachel told People at the 2019 SAG Awards after confirming her marriage to Ralph. At the time Ralph was starred as Quentin Coldwater in The Magicians, a USA network series based on the book by the same name.

Since revealing their secret marriage, Brosnahan and Ralph have been spotted together at several awards shows, premieres and broadway shows. Both Ralph and Brosnahan have a love for theater, and Ralph even got his start with a role in Peter and the Starcatcher on Broadway. During her Golden Globes acceptance speech for Best TV Actress in a Musical or Comedy, for her role of Midge in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, she thanked her husband in the audiences saying, "Jason, I love you. I wouldn't be here at all without you. Thank you."

Most recently, the couple was spotted together at the Golden Globes on January 7, 2024. After 10 years together and 5 years of marriage, Rachel and Jason are still happily married and live together with their two dogs in Manhattan.
