The heavy metal icon announced on Feb. 1 that his touring career is over.

Ozzy Osbourne, who has had an extremely successful career with the heavy metal band Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, is sadly stepping away from performing on stage, cancelling his much-anticipated tour dates and lamenting the end of touring.

The 74-year-old took to social media to break the tough news, starting off the post by writing, "This is probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to share with my loyal fans."

Osbourne detailed his past health issues, including a spinal injury that originally delayed the tour dates in 2019, as reported by CNN, and how he just physically cannot handle touring anymore.

"My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak," the statement said.

Osbourne went on, noting, "In all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I'm not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn't deal with the travel required."

The decision was not made lightly, as Osbourne wrote, "Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F--KS ME UP, more than you will ever know. Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way."

He also added, "I am honestly humbled by the way you've all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time," before mentioning that his team is working on an alternative way to perform for people around the world.

Many musical acts put on live-streamed concerts during the height of COVID-19, which could be a possible option for Osbourne. Someone in the comments on Twitter also suggested Osbourne perform a residency like what many artists do in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Osbourne ended the statement by thanking his fans, family, band, crew, and Judas Priest, the band that was supposed to tour with him on the cancelled dates, "for their endless dedication, loyalty, and support, and for giving me the life that I never ever dreamed I would have. I love you all...”

For anyone who bought tickets to Osbourne's tour, the statement shared that refunds are now available at the point of purchase.
