Cyrus attended the event on his behalf, joining his co-stars Rebel Wilson and Priyanka Chopra on the pink carpet in an exquisite piece from Valentino’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection. With tiered crimson ruffles and sweeping cape, the gown was one of Cyrus’s most romantic ensembles to date and she made a splash posing against the ultra pretty backdrop of flowers set up just for the screening. Worn with a sleek ponytail and matching red lips, the look was a triumph, impressively styled by Cyrus herself.

On social media Cyrus explained why she headed out solo and why she’ll always be happy to support her partner. “It’s hard for entertainers to put themselves before the project but this time it was crucial,” she wrote on Twitter. “I am proud to represent him and his incredible work. So happy to see him shining in this comedy! He is the funniest person I know and the world now gets to see the Liam I wake up to every day.” The statement was certainly heart-melting, though Cyrus kept it from being saccharine sweet, thanks her irreverent wit. “I already had the dress,” she told reporters with a smile. “Everyone thinks I’m here for Liam but I’m really here for Maison Valentino!”
