Meghan Markle was, among many other things in her previous life, a lifestyle blogger. That same interest in food and community hasn’t left even with her new role as the Duchess of Sussex.

The former actress and newest addition to the British Royal Family has now teamed up with a group of women from the Hubb Community Kitchen in London to release a cookbook called Together, all about celebrating the power of cooking and its impact on community. The book is also the perfect gift or registry addition for the humanitarian and activist–especially if the couple loves cozy date nights in the kitchen.

In a short 3-minute preview clip of the behind-the-scenes collaboration, Markle explains how the cookbook came to life in partnership with the women serving in that community space. “Together is a cookbook, but it’s also the story of a west London community who gathered together in a kitchen and discovered the healing power of sharing food,” she says in the voiceover.

The Hubb Community Kitchen–named after the Arabic word for “love”–was started after the Grenfell Tower devastated many London residents’s homes and livelihoods in June 2017. More than 70 people perished from the tragedy while many more were injured and displaced.

Together: our Community Cookbook (Penguin)

Following the painful incident, a group of women began to gather at the community kitchen to cook fresh meals for their families and neighbors, exchanging stories and sharing memories of their own mothers cooking for them with recipes passed down through the generations. When Markle asked why the kitchen only operated two days a week, one woman explained to the Duchess of Sussex that the group lacked funding.

Thus, the idea for Together was born.

“I feel very excited that my own unique recipes are going to be used around the world,” one woman says in the video clip. “Because some of the recipes that I put in there are actually, like, very unique to my family.”

Together features 50 personal recipes from the women whose communities were affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, with a foreword by Markle. Culinary recipes range come from the Middle East and North Africa to Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean region and more. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly toward helping the Hubb Community Kitchen continue to grow and thrive.

In other words, there’s no better gift to include in your registry, because what better it is, quite literally, the gift that keeps on giving. Imagine making the recipes with your significant other at home or sharing the message behind the cookbook as your host your future in-laws.

In fact, Markle even garnered support from two key members of her own family while hosting an outdoor reception on Thursday, September 20. Both Prince Harry and her mom, Doria Ragland, were photographed joining the Duchess at the event.

Ragland’s appearance was particularly notable since her last known visit to the U.K. was when her daughter married Prince Harry at Windsor Castle in May.

Together: Our Community Cookbook will be available in the U.S. starting September 25. Pre-order a copy and add it to your Amazon registry. Or start your wedding registry here.
