Why you’ll be spotting evil eye gloves at the March for Our Lives

There is a new hot accessory that the world will see at the March for our Lives events scheduled across the country over the weekend. Krista Suh, who created the Pussyhat Project, spearheaded this initiative for the upcoming gun control march, inspired by the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Her goal is to collect 438 pairs of gloves, to represent the 438 people killed or injured in school shootings from 2014 through today. She says it’s in perfect in alignment with women’s issues, a cause she felt passionately about after the 2016 presidential election. “The evil eye is the symbol of protection, just like the pussy hat was a symbol of protection for women who went to [Washington] D.C. to march,” Suh explains. “These eyes are meant to show that people are watching — history is watching — what Congress will do next. I think it’s really powerful.”
